What can courts do to improve their performance
in this area?
This is a large area with many different components.
Courts can choose to work on one component or to reengineer their entire approach to family cases. The
steps outlined below are intended to help courts build
solutions to fit their specific needs. They include (1) gathering information to find out how the court currently handles family cases, (2) determining what changes
should be made to enhance informed decision-making and an integrated approach to family justice, (3) identifying solutions to address the needed changes, and (4) preparing a plan to implement the changes. Courts can systematically move through each of the four steps or choose the step they are most interested in at this time:
Step 1: Gather information on current court practices
Step 2: Determine needed changes
Step 3: Identify solutions
Step 4: Prepare implementation plan
